The Cities of Seattle and Kirkland Declare “Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra Day”
On September 15th, the City of Seattle issued a proclamation declaring that October 4, 2014 will be Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra Day. The proclamation recognizes SRJO’s twenty years of programming in big band jazz performance and jazz education. SRJO’s co-artistic director Michael Brockman accepted the certificate from the Seattle City Council.
The City of Kirkland is also honoring SRJO with a “Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra Day” on the October 5, 2014. The Kirkland proclamation will be read from the stage during SRJO’s October 5th concert by Kirkland’s Deputy Mayor Penny Sweet at the Kirkland Performance Center
Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra Day coincides with the launch of SRJO’s twentieth anniversary season with a weekend of concerts titled “Basie Bash: SRJO Celebrates Twenty Years.”
