BAKE’S PLACE: Isabella du Graf Quartet with Evan Flory Barnes, bass; D’vonne Lewis, drums and Josh Rawlings, piano
from Earshot Jazz: It is wonderful to see Isabella Du Graf bringing her young quartet to Bakes this Friday. Too often this iconic Seattle jazz venue sticks with the tried and true, rarely letting fresh new talent grace the stage. Not true with Du Graf, who has been recognized by Downbeat magazine twice before she has even graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music. Get out to Issaquah and support this venerable Seattle institution and encourage them to book more forward thinking acts at the same time. That makes it a twofer – more bang for your buck in these hard times.
