JoshWolffPianist Josh Wolff, who has resided in New York City for many years while maintaining close ties to his hometown of Seattle, passed away on Sunday from pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by many friends and his family.

From a Facebook post by his brother David:

It was about 6:20. Although Joshua Wolff was no longer speaking, he signaled for us all to gather around – younger brother Dan and me, our parents, and more than a dozen of his closest friends. We all knew that he was ready for liftoff. After several minutes of adieus, my mom, holding him, said, “Josh, don’t worry about us, you can fly away now. Just fly away.

Then his eyes widened for a moment, and he flew, just like that.

God’s speed, my dear dear brother
