TRACTOR TAVERN: Reptet CD Release w/ Orkestar Zirkonium & Darek Mazzone
from Earshot Jazz: At Tractor Tavern, the grooving, rocking, squawking, and manically fun Reptet hop around the history of jazz and entertain mightily, as you will hear at the release of their new 7” vinyl record and digital release, Agendacide. Reptet will perform original music from their album and repertoire. Reptet is Samantha Boshnack (trumpets), Nelson Bell (trombone, tuba), Izaak Mills (tenor sax, bass clarinet, flute), Chris Credit (baritone sax, tenor sax, alto sax, clarinet), Tim Carey (double bass, bass guitar), John Ewing (drums), all members of the sterling Monktail Creative Music Concern. The band’s releases have included the CDs Do This! (Monktail, 2006) and Chicken or Beef? (Monktail, 2008) which have fueled their local gigs and national and international tours. Reptet is releasing Agendacide as a digital download and 7” red vinyl record, accompanied by stunning cover art by the late great jazz illustrator, Jim Flora. It was produced by the band, and features a guest appearance by the Wayne Horvitz on Hammond organ. Doug Haire at Jack Straw Productions recorded The Jack Straw Artists Support Program-assisted album early this year, and it then benefited from overdubs, mixing, and mastering by Mell Dettmer at Alpha Studios and Sinister Kitchen. Opening the party will be opened by Orkestar Zirkonium, the Balkan-inspired, mobile, brass-and-drum troupe, while DJ Darek Mazzone, of KEXP, will leaven the proceedings, throughout. A wonderful time is guaranteed, for all. At the Tractor Tavern at 9pm, all for a mere $8; over-21 only.
