from Earshot Jazz: In honor of Monk’s October birthday, pianist Christian Asplund and drummer Greg Campbell perform the complete works of Thelonious Monk at the Royal Room, Tuesday, October 9, 7pm, with special guests Wayne Horvitz, William O. Smith, Tari Nelson-Zagar, Jessika Kenney, Darian Asplund, Jim Knodle. Canadian-American composer and performer Asplund is an associate professor at Brigham Young University; he entered Monk’s music by transcribing it as a teenager.
