from Earshot Jazz: Presented by SeattleIndian.com, Indian slide guitar pioneer Debashish Bhattacharya will perform alongside his brother, the tabla player Subhashis Bhattacharya. In Bhattacharya’s skilled hands, the slide guitar is an infinitely subtle instrument, employing microtonal scales and intricate patterns alternating brief, lightly touched notes and long, sustained slides. Bhattacharya recently won the BBC Planet Award for World Music and his latest album, Calcutta Chronicles: Indian Slide Guitar Odyssey, has been nominated for a Grammy. Bhattacharya will perform at Jazz Alley on September 29 and 30 at 7:30 PM.
