from Earshot Jazz: Winner of the 2008 Earshot Golden Ear for 2008 Recording of the Year, percussionist extraordinaire Byron Vannoy here performs with a special trio featuring pianist Jon Solo & bassist Geoff Harper. Vannoy is a nuanced player, his strokes crisp and his ideas thoughtful. He has also proven himself a composer of considerable gifts, as those familiar with his Meridian ensemble well know.
