Some of the best NW Jazz of 2014

Top Ten lists abound at this time of year, but why Ten? There were many great CDs by Northwest Jazz artists in 2014 and we’ll play some of our favorites on Jazz Northwest this Sunday, December 28 at 2 PM. It’s not a Top Ten countdown, but we think these are representative of great jazz talent from Seattle.

So who’s on this non-list? Listen and find out! Sunday afternoon at 2 Pacific on 88.5, KPLU and streaming at kplu.org. The program is also available as a podcast after the broadcast.

Jazz Northwest is produced and hosted by Jim Wilke exclusively for 88.5 KPLU and kplu.org. Next week (January 4), The Dave Peck Trio with Jeff Johnson and Eric Eagle plays a set recorded at Tula’s in Seattle.

“Linus and Juicy” is back! The Jose ‘Juicy’ Gonzales Trio returns to Strawberry Theatre Workshop for the jazziest Christmas party in Seattle. Now in its fourth year, Charlie has jammed its way onto the list of the region’s most hip holiday traditions. Sip your cocktails at the Cornish Playhouse. Dress in your favorite jazz threads and step back into 1965, when the music was fly, and Snoopy was still just a drawing on the comics page. Featuring a silent auction of holiday gifts.
