Branford clip from Before The Music Dies

This morning I sat down at the computer and saw a movie on Hulu.com entitled Before the Music Dies. A few minutes into the movie a clip featuring Branford Marsalis caught my attention … and since he is starting his weekend run at Jazz Alley tonight I thought I’d share it with all of you. – Matt Jorgensen

Fired Up, Ready To Go!

This is a music blog, not a political blog, but occasionally the two worlds come together. In late January a group of Seattle musicians including trumpter/vocalist Jake Bergevin, Matt Cameron, Arturo Rodriguez and the Total Experience Gospel Choir got together at the Columbia City Theater to record a song writen by Bergevin’s two brothers, Jon and Joe, inspired by Barack Obama’s “One voice can change the world” speech.

The video has been speading across the internet and has over 45,000 views on YouTube. They even got a snarky diss from Fox News so you know they are doing something right.

Videos from Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts’ Visit to the Seattle Drum School Georgetown

Back in May, the Seattle Drum School officially opened it’s newest branch in Georgetown, and to help commemorate the event, drummer Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts stopped by for an informal performance and clinic. The Seattle Drum School recently posted five videos from the event, with at least one more to come. They’ve been getting some notice, and ‘Tain’ himself has even embedded them on his education page.
