TULA’S JAZZ CLUB: Woody Herman Centennial Celebration

from Earshot Jazz: Bandleader Woody Herman turned 100 earlier this year, and Tula’s has put together an all-star band to perform some of the “Thundering Herd’s” greatest hits, December 12, 7:30pm. Clarinetist and saxophonist Woody Herman and his bands entertained audiences all over the world from the mid-1930s to the late 1980s. Known for keeping his big band current by hiring contemporary arrangers and personnel, his career in music is studded with hits, Grammy Awards and accolades from fans and critics alike. Tonight, trumpeters Jay Thomas and Thomas Marriott, saxophonist Pete Gallio, trombonist David Marriott and drummer Greg Williamson, formerly a member of the Woody Herman Orchestra, join a big band performing the music of Woody Herman.
